Simple things to help Mother Earth

You think you can’t help? You’re wrong.
Here are simple tips you can contribute to environment.

1. Do not litter and do not spit.
For a cleaner surroundings, it is good to see not even a piece of candy wrapper anywhere. In many of the countries, littering is strictly prohibited and is even penalized. Some of the cities in the country adopted a “No Littering” and “No Spitting” ordinance. It is a good start. However, still in many places, littering seems to be a hobby. Trash cans are provided and yet many litter are discarded everywhere. Spit are seen everywhere.

2. Do not smoke. Smoking does not only destroy your health but also creates millions of cigarette butts. They pollute the land as they pollute your lungs. Cigarettes butts do not decompose easily; it takes years before it vanishes or biodegrades.
3. Do not chew gum. Yes, chewing gum freshens your breath but is considered a pollutant. Though it is just a tiny waste after chewed, a million tiny can build a mountain. Chewing gums decomposes after number of years.
4. Do not buy goods packed in plastic bags. Many products and grocery items are packed in sachets that end up as useless waste after they are consumed. Plastic takes too many years before they biodegrades and even clog the drainages that causes flood. Buy, instead, those packed in plastic tubes or bottles. You don’t just save money but will also be your source of extra income. Plastic tubes or bottles, glass bottles and cans can be sold in the junk shops. Aside from saving, you also helped in not generating plastic wastes.
5. Use reusable or recyclable bags. When buying your goods make sure to bring with you your cloth bag or paper bag to pack your bought items. You minimize the generation of waste by not needing your goods be packed in another plastic waste. It does not only give you convenience but will also help the environment.

6. Use “energy saving” home appliances. This time, where global warming is getting intense, saving more energy can reduce the production of greenhouse gases. Using energy saving appliances will not only benefit the environment but will also save you a dime when electric bill is due.

7. Save energy. The lesser energy we use the smaller amount we pay and the more money we save. When an appliance is not in use make sure to turn it off and unplug it. In office, make sure to turn off the computer and put off the lights during break time. Or else put your computer is a power saving mode. That way, the energy used is lessened.
8. Segregate. Proper segregation of waste into basic Biodegradable and non- Biodegradable will not just a cleaner look of your garbage corner will help the garbage collector. Things that can be recycled will easily be segregated. Further, be kind enough to the bottom feeders who dig into your garbage for food.
9. Commute. Yes, you have car. 4But if you can ride a taxi, bus, jeepney or any kind of public transport please do. You will not just help in minimizing emission of hazardous gas but will also help in the realization of a cleaner air.
10. Educate. Teach your kids or those younger than you to be aware of the environmental problems. Teach them simple values to love our nature. At an early age, teach them to treat their waste well.
11. Avoid creating waste. In everything you do and for every thing you buy, make sure to include the environment impact of everything. Do not be a pollutant instead be an advocate of a cleaner and greener Earth.

OPOSA vs. FACTORAN

FACTS:
The petitioners, all minors, sought the help of the Supreme Court to order the respondent, then Secretary of DENR, to cancel all existing Timber License Agreement (TLA) in the country and to cease and desist from receiving, accepting, processing, renewing or approving new TLAs. They alleged that the massive commercial logging in the country is causing vast abuses on rainforest.
They furthered the rights of their generation and the rights of the generations yet unborn to a balanced and healthful ecology.

Issue: Whether or not the petitioners have a locus standi.

Held:
Locus standi means the right of the litigant to act or to be heard.

The SC decided in the affirmative.

Under Section 16, Article II of the 1987 constitution, it states that:
The state shall protect and advance the right of the people to a balanced and healthful ecology in accord with the rhythm and harmony of nature.
Petitioners, minors assert that they represent their generation as well as generation yet unborn. We find no difficulty in ruling that they can, for themselves, for others of their generation and for the succeeding generations, file a class suit. Their personality to sue in behalf of the succeeding generations can only be based on the concept of intergenerational responsibility insofar as the right to a balanced and healthful ecology is concerned. Such a right, as hereinafter expounded considers the “rhythm and harmony of nature”. Nature means the created world in its entirety. Such rhythm and harmony indispensably include, inter alia, the judicious disposition, utilization, management, renewal and conservation of the country’s forest, mineral, land, waters fisheries, wildlife, off- shore areas and other natural resources to the end that their exploration, development and utilization be equitably accessible to the present as well as future generations.
Needless to say, every generation has a responsibility to the next to preserve that rhythm and harmony for the full enjoyment of a balanced and healthful ecology. Put a little differently, the minor’s assertion of their right to a sound environment constitutes, at the same time, the performance of their obligation to ensure the protection of that right for the generations to come.
This landmark case has been ruled as a class suit because the subject matter of the complaint is of common and general interest, not just for several but for ALL CITIZENS OF THE PHILIPPINES.

Bottom line:
These minors have fought for our rights up to the highest level of legal remedy. These minors thought of our interest and right. These minors battled for our sons and daughters and those yet to come. These minors were concern for us to live in a balanced and healthful ecology. Sadly, we, who are learned and with discernment, are oblivious. Until when do we learn our lesson?
Remember, we have an "INTERGENERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY" to our future generations.

Pulutin mo
O! munti kong anghel
ang mga pangarap na pilit mong hinahabi
dito sa kandungan kong tigib ng pighati.

Hanapin mo

Kalkalin mo
ang katuparan ng kanilang pangako;
baka-sakaling makalahig mo ito
mula sa nakabalot na dumi ng tao,
na tila utot na nililitanya
ng mababahong bibig ng mga pulitiko.

Silipin mo
ang kalayaan mo mula sa gutom.
baka-sakaling nasa loob
ng kahon ng mga sapatos
na hinihimlayan ng naaagnas na fetus,
ang pagkaing sa iyo'y magpapabusog.

Langhapin mo
ang hanap mong karapatan.
baka-sakaling ituro sa iyo
ng usok na pumapailanlang...
o ng umaalingasaw na bangkay
nina ate at kuya na pilit nilang tinabunan;

Isakay mo…
sa pamamagitan ng naglalangib
at sugatan mong palad
ang lahat mong agam-agam at mga bagabag...
sa nanlilimahid na kariton
ng kawalang-katiyakan at madilim mong bukas.

Itulak mo...
itulak mo papalayo ang lahat mong hinanakit
sa lipunang ito na wala ng malasakit.

I support the TRUTH

Since I discovered blogging, environment was my most favored topic and my inspiration in creating such, that’s why I ended up with a “savetheearth-now” url. Ive been speaking about environment ever since but not until this political drama is messing our country.
I love to speak about environment and I hate the fact that I am more politically inclined. Probably, it’s the effect of being a Pol. Sci. graduate, definitely.
Of course, no regrets at all. Specially now that I’ve met many friends in blogosphere who’s heart is with the improvement of the political culture in the country and who are hopeful for a better change- thus, making us all meliorist.

To pacify my hate, saving the earth does not cover only with saving the environment but has to cover all aspects and that includes politics.

Being a “human being” existing here on earth specifically in the Philippines, I have been bestowed with responsibility to help in molding the Philippine’s future. I am an essential part of it and I have an essential obligation to my nation.

This time, this country needs me not to meddle in the political chaos but to help in seeking for the truth and further support it. I know the present issue about the NBN deal and Lozada’s testimony. From my own experiences working in the government and in private entities, I truly believe in the existence of graft and corruption. I believe Lozada.

Now here comes the administration playing political hardball. Erwin Santos of the Philforest is blurting out Lozada’s life story while in public office. We hear, read and watch much propaganda to put a question on Lozada’s credibility and absolutely to cover up their stinky mess.

This calls for a stronger support for the TRUTH and for the advocate of truth.

I am raising my heart’s desire to show my support for the TRUTH.

Now if you support the truth, I do not have to challenge you. You have the will, you have the way. Please have your placard raised too. Show your support for the truth. We, fellows, are the judges and we are not blind and we have clean conscience.

(You may grab this picture or you can create your own)

We are stronger than those beasts in the government. We can expel them out of their pedestal. Let us just start to trust ourselves and unite for a better future of our beloved nation.

...an appeal to every Filipino...

“Courage never fails.” This is a quote that stuck into my mind after watching the movie In the Name of the King. “Farmer”, the protagonist was moved by his courage to face the trials in his life, to sought after his wife, and succeed in the battle for his king and his kingdom. Courage never failed him.

For the time being, courage may be considered as the virtue that is noticeable in the arena of politics. Courage drove Jun Lozada to come out in the open to confess the dark businesses of the “BIG” personalities like First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, Benjamin Abalos, and special mention to the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo. For an ordinary “probinsyanong intsik” as he describes himself, to go against and testify against the most powerful people in the country deserves an exemplary award of extraordinary courage.

With the courageous decision of Jun Lozada, his life and his family’s security is now in peril. If for other people, they would have rather choose to keep their eyes blind, ears deaf, and mouth mute. However, Jun Lozada is different. His courageous testimonies has opened wide our eyes to the secrets of the cute faces of those in power. Jun Lozada’s courageous act has saved the Filipino hoi polloi from millions of dollars of debt. Jun Lozada’s courage could have brought Arroyo’s dégringolade. Jun Lozada’s courageous stand deserves a careful attention and support. The facts he revealed are undeserving of neither shrug nor doubts for, inter alia, it corroborated to most of the facts stated by Jeoy De Venecia and impliedly blurted out by Neri. Besides, life is compromised to leave no room to nag suspicions.Lozada's courage did not failed him because he has at least attained a peace of mind by telling the truth that he cannot stomach. But hopefully, it will be heard by the right tribunal (I still trust the judiciary).

These events happening in this country affects each and every Filipino. The street rally that was held in the central business district of Makati should not be criticized nor negated because participants have sacrificed their precious time to help in the moral reformation of the country. This, I guess, is a good time to fight corruption if we, Filipinos, really want it eradicated or at least minimize it. It would be a very sad story if this highlighted event in Philippine history will just turn out like the case of Erap.

Notably, the Sandiganbayan convicted Erap guilty, he was a big fish then but sadly, we pardoned him. What is left of us now is humiliation from the international community. We are capable of trying public figure but not capable of punishing. What is the sense then?

Support does not necessarily require us to be on streets but our presence will definitely add to the force. Support can be done by clarifying these things to those who have a vague knowledge about it. It could be bravely testifying against corrupt officials or offering a prayer for our country or by being vigilant in the events in our country. Support counts a thousand times if we help Lozada in this battle.
We should not forget that every single Filipino existing here on earth is an essential component of this nation.

This time, the suspected big fish is in our hands. Hopefully it will not skip from us.

All of us crave for “better change” but we ignore it when opportunity comes. Hopefully, it will not happen this time.

When then can we achieve better Philippines if we point at others our own
responsibility?

Bangon Pinas.

Question to ponder on:
What could be the significant relationship of the Arroyo with COMELEC; Arroyo with Abalos; Abalos with Garci? note the "hello garci" and the "i am sorry" issue.

HOW DO THEY CORRUPT JUAN DELA CRUZ

According to Section 1 Article XI of the Philippine Constitution, Public office is a public trust. Public officers and employees must, at all times, be accountable to the people, serve them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency; act with patriotism and justice, and lead modest lives.
Very nice to read right? But if you observe in almost all government offices, this Constitutional mandate seems lost... lost in space as if it doesn’t exist at all. Worst thing? They just corrupt the Filipino people who humbly and honestly pay their taxes for their salaries and bonuses and other benefits.
Was so innocent then, I viewed the world as a Utopia. My parents opened a beautiful world for me. But not until I journeyed the reality. The world before is the complete opposite of the world where I exist now.

Wala pa sila ngunit pag nakita mo time card nila naka IN na sila. “Ano yon kaluluwa?”

Lahat legal. Pipirma lahat ng dapat pipirma. Akala mo legal kasi complete requirements.

Sige next time ulit, kwentuhan kita.

valentine gift

Life of blogging does not revolve only in posting personal views or ideas, experiences or stories. Blogging has opened us an opportunity to meet people around the globe. Some of them become our friends while some are just passers- by. The good thing is we earn friends, experience other's life and feel their presence in whatever mood we are.
This time, I thank all bloggers around the globe who've been part of my blogging life, from my regular readers and supporters down to people who have spared their most precious seconds of time.
I have nothing to give as a valentine's gift, no images to forward but I have scheduled to plant a tree when I get home in Baguio for all of you as a living symbol of our friendship. Why tree? you might say, It is for the reason that tree, for me, symbolizes life and hope. In this unpredictable world, perturbed by environmental problems, it is best to build life and nurture hope by protecting the environment.
This might be of "nothing" to you but it is my best way of showing my warm gratitude that I've come to meet you.
If God wills it, 20 years from now, I will be taking picture of it with your blog's site engraved on it :)

I thank Sweet Rai for this gift.

...an appeal to every Filipino...

Fellow honest, concerned and conscientious Filipinos, let us unite in praying for God’s support over Engr. Lozada Jr., the sole witness to implicate the FIRST (uhn)GENTLEMAN ARROYO, BENJAMIN ABALOS, and other unworthy PUBLIC OFFICIALS who ate their pride and principles only for their own position.

Let us unite in giving moral support to those who are brave enough to fight PUBLIC OFFICIALS who shamefully corrupts our own money.

Let us be vigilant to watch over this case and be a witness to it.

This is not just the fight of brave Lozada, this is our fight against those greedy monstrous leeches of the government.

Together, let us always pray for God’s guidance over our beloved country, REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES and ask Him to shelter us from the influence of these devilish public officials who try to shield themselves from innocent faces.

Remember, every Filipino has an essential part in shaping the destiny of the Philippines.

DE VENECIA OUT... LOUD

Just yesterday, our ahm HONORABLE congressmen choose to expel Jose De Venecia out of his looong served position as SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE. This year, Nograles will be SERVING THE PEOPLE until the end of his term... well that is IF THERE IS AN END to his term.

In the newspaper and over the television, I cannot help myself to pity the former speaker for he really looked like a PATHETIC JERK. When he delivered his speech, the pity turned into mockery… (oops..it lasted only a minute.. hehe). But he was still appearing as pitiful. tsk tsk..

In his privilege speech, he stressed “In every challenge in the life of President Arroyo, I was there, standing beside her. During the battle for the proclamation of her as President I was there. I stood there and we raised the hand of President Arroyo. … I always stood by her, and in the various coup attempts against her I was there, to ensure that she continues to sit in power in Malacañang… When (impeachment cases were filed against) President Arroyo, FVR and I joined hands to rescue her and we succeeded.” A very close ally of the President (I guess Filipinos should blame him for the flaws of this administration)

Over the news, he pointed also that he and his son are receiving death threats… Now the servant is turning his back against his master for TREACHERY?
De Venecia only testifies the existence of political virus in the Philippine politics.
Once you enter politics, only two things can happen to you…

1. Survive- leave your own principles, undress your good characters and support the ruling majority of the rotten politicians. You will survive and let live more of your descendants in politics. However, if you are useless anymore in the furtherance of the ruling majority’s maneuvering of the government, then, just like De Venecia- they’ll dump you into NOWHERE.

2. Suicide- follow your principle. Stand for what you think is right. Fight for the interest of the hoi polloi. As a rookie, you would tend to do such because you still think yourself as a hero or savior for the poor people. However, you wouldn’t enrich yourself like those in the position now. You will be insulted and they would tramp at your principle. You will be cursed and treated as an OUTCAST. Worst, your voice will never be heard then how can you further your objectives? After your fist term, even if you have done good things, you will be found dead by a bullet. Or most probably, you would choose to align yourself with the crooks. But at the end, if you are no longer of use to the ruling majority, you will just be dumped into NOWHERE.

THIS SITUATION IS NORMAL IN PHILIPPINE POLITICS, actually.

Love, defined 2nd part..

...as I have said, LOVE is the only word that does not run out of definition..

LOVE is one of the hardest thing to define because at times you thought you were in love- yun pala ay hindi. It could have been simply an infatuation or a physical attraction.
I guess love is an emotion that you cannot force on anyone. It is very personal as one's basis for love varies - depending on one's experience, needs and wants.

For me - love should make you happy. However, it carries with it certain responsibilities such as honesty and fidelity. If you cannot be honest or fidel, then one cannot truly say that he is in love with the person he claims to love.

Love can start also with a simple physical attraction or attraction brought about by common interests --- then it grows and grows everyday as both get to know each other and develop their attraction towards each other - bringing it to a higher level.

They also say that love hurts. True but while love hurts, it also heals.
Ate Beverly Longid

LOVE is the sweetest thing that can happen in a human being. Love can destroy anything but can conquer everything.
Manny Balbin

It is something you never can expect to happen. It can be the thing that you hate, despise and avoid but when it hits the heart at the right moment, it's like you have dementia forgetting all that you have disliked. Love is really WEIRD.
ilovephilippinestoo

LOVE - is when you think about someone in everything you do, whether you're simply walking to school or you're reading a book, basta ganun. Ewan ko. Di ko lang talaga alam. I think it's something that makes you happy, like smile ka ng smile bago ka matulog. Hehehehe. Hehehe.
Earvin

LOVE has a reason of its own, reasons that it only knows... love has no definite meaning, it depends on the person who felt love.
Jen Jen

For me love is the most essential thing in life because true love means doing what is good not only for yourself but for others as well..i believe it's the root of all the good things around.
so live...love and be loved!!!
Lhezlhey

Love takes time it needs a lot of effort and sacrifices in order to gain and nourish the true meaning of love,it doesnt come right away. We've easily attracted to persons we met along the way but it doesn't mean that there is love already but things may turn on it.
love is really an unexplainable feeling between two lovers but sometimes love may hurt us if we dont make it right.
Maribeth

LOVE is all about putting the one you love over everything else.

LOVE, defined

LOVE... is the only word that does not run out of definition...

lately I've asked my family, friends, relatives, Greeks and Romans to share to me their personal definition or thoughts of love...
here are the responses...

LOVE takes all.
April Carino

LOVE is a feeling deep inside your heart telling you to like a thing truly.

Love is a feeling that draws you to work hard and make things possible.
Mommy

LOVE is a journey. A never ending journey.
Qhoen

Love for me is when you're ready to make sacrifices, you're fully submitting your whole being. And when you see that there is "forever" for you and your other half.
Maya

GOD is LOVE. The world exist because of love. For special someone, I express love with special care, accepting who we or you are. Respect to one another, sacrifice with intimacy and should be a two- way direction...
Sir Rustan

Love is something magical; it makes you see things in a different perspective; seems as if there is sunshine amidst a heavy rain, roses scattered everywhere, and makes you smile even after the most tiring day.
Paula

Love is caring for someone, wanting someone, hoping and feeling for someone. But love is more than that too; some might say it's indescribable. I think love is utter devotion to someone, and being able to walk away if it's the best for the person. Love is wanting nothing more than to see that someone happy.
Paula

LOVE

Love is the only word known by every human being, even those not yet born. It is a word easily said but hardly shown. It is so powerful. It is an affection that is sometimes misinterpreted. It has many faces and justifications. Love is the only perfect thing in this vale of tears and in heaven.

It is a strong vibration that binds two hearts. It is a magical foundation that builds a home. It ignites a circle of friendship. It is a feeling indescribable. It is patient and understanding that justifies all the flaws in a relationship. It is an acid that melts away an incurable grudge. It is a light to a lost soul. It is the very reason of everyone’s existence.

Love is great, unselfish, and powerful that brought humanity’s salvation. Love, whatever its kind, is the most beautiful thing here on earth.

wanna win an 8GB IPOD NANO?

Bloghopping is what I do when I do not have a new idea to post. This very moment, I never thought I’d bee lucky to see MoneyBlogger through a friend on blog. I discovered Dom is giving away his 8GB Ipod Nano, MY GOSH! 8GB! Wow! But of course giving it has to pass a simple test.

This Love month, it ain’t worth celebrating if you win an IPOD Nano? And mind you, the memory is too large more enough to put in your favs. You might run out of music to install.. haha..or words of appreciation and gratitude haha..

Of course, this ain’t a joke unlike the usual sites you visit. “To see is to believe?” Why don’t you check MoneyBlogger right now! You’ve got one week left, don’t you let this chance pass you by?! Who knows, you might be luckier than me?

will it be a black or a woman?

Usually, headline features either Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama celebrating victory in the caucus. The presidential nomination for Democrats seems so tight as both seem to deserve the majority vote. This situation in America can be lined up among the dramatic and controversial history of American politics. Especially that the campaign of the two opposing nominees involves a bit of political hardball. But on the brighter side, two sociological problems are at the brink of finish line- end of discrimination against blacks and discrimination against women.
For Americans who are tired of Republicans would certainly choose Democrats. However, their druthers is imposed with prudent consideration and numerous criteria. The battle between Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama does not merely involve a choice of whether a man or a woman but touches most of the representation of two sectors- woman sector and the black sector. The black community would go for Sen. Obama while the whites would go for Sen. Clinton. Men may go for Sen.Obama while women will support Sen. Clinton. Among the past presidents, who among Pres. Kennedy and Pres. Clinton would they wish to return to the Whitehouse? It is a known fact that the Kennedys support Sen. Obama. The church goers too would probably consider the religious affiliation of the two. Lastly, everyone would choose who among the two would satisfactorily represent the hoi polloi fairly as with the elites?

Whoever wins the seat in Whitehouse… GOD BLESS AMERICA.
